    Question

Hello everyone, I'm new to the board having just bought a second hand JRSC.

I'm going to install it on my motor but don't want it to boost just now. That's 'cause I'm going to buy a Zdyne to go with it and not use the other methods of controlling fuelling / ignition that came with the kit.
My question is, running without the belt, I know the bypass will open on vacuum and thus everything will work fine, but driving about at *no* vacuum, I'm worried the bypass will close off? So, should I zip tie the vacuum bypass open for the time being? It won't be for long, probably weeks rather than months.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Thanks bud that's what I thought, but my worry is that, at zero vacuum, the bypass will close & force air through the Supercharger?
I know this will not generate boost but won't the charger, since it isn't moving, just act like a big restriction? I was thinking that the charger will almost be airtight when it isn't turning & so it'll choke off my engine?
Or am I just thinking about this all wrong?
    Thanks again,

Your engine will begin sucking air through your charger instead of the charger blowing air into the engine. My belt spun off a couple of times and the charger would spin freely and then faster with higher rpms. yes I am sure there is some restriction, but it doesn't hurt anything. I know we all hate them, but Moss motors told me personally it would NOT hurt anything but horsepower...

no belt = no boost, so you will be fine.

So it'll just act like a slight restriction? Great, that's exactly what I was hoping!
Just need to press on with the install now.
    Thanks for your reply!

    hahahah slight restriction... hahahaha

    sorry, anyways.....
I had a belt spun on the dyno due to improper tension.

THe great dyno figure with no belt? 126 hp (and change, they shut it down a tad early.) torque was still better, oddly enough

before jrsc hp = 156 no jrsc belt = 126

30 hp restriction give or take. you'll lose 20 hp minimum with it running through the charger.
